The
developers proposed project must be submitted for
approval to three Orange County Review Boards. These
boards are:
The Planning and Zoning Commission (P &Z)
An advisory only board of nine appointed
representatives that meets on the third Thursday of each
month. The meetings are held in the County Commission
chambers on Rosalind Ave. The public can attend and
speak, but each speaker is limited to 3 minutes. This
board advises the Board of County Commissioners (BCC).
Hampton Bay is on the agenda for the 18 th May meeting.
The board agenda with
times can be found if you go to
www.orangecountyfl.net,
pull up Planning division, look under meetings and then
click on planning and Zoning Commission. The board is
terrible about sticking to the agenda times.
It is important to get our message to
these Commissioners well before the meeting. Their names
and E mails are under the E Mail tab. Please write now,
often and to all the members.
Development Review Committee
A board of representatives from county
and state government agencies who actually implement BCC
decisions. They can, and do, put critical requirements
and limitations on BCC decisions. The meetings are twice
monthly at 4200 John Young Parkway. The meetings are
open to the public but the public is not entitled to
speak, although with a quiet request the Chairman
(David Heath) usually allows you to speak. The DRC web
site is at:
www.orangecountyfl.net/cms/GOVERN/meetingsPN/DRC/default.htm
However, they are not good about getting
the agenda out in advance and are also terrible about
sticking to the times on the agenda. As far as we know
Hampton Bay has not yet been put on the agenda.
Board of County Commissioners.( BCC)
These are the real and
key decision makers. Hampton Bay will be put on their
agenda a month to six weeks after the P &Z meeting. The
same rules apply, the public may attend, the public may
speak with the three minute limitation. Meetings are
held on Tuesdays in the Commission chambers on Rosalind
Ave. Performance to the agenda times is hit or miss,
mostly miss. The agenda can be found under
www.orangecountyfl.net
Please write now and often to the
commissioners. Their E mail addresses are under the E
mail tab. Write to all the Commissioners and the
Mayor. This is the most important thing we can do to
keep our rural environment |
